Dora Dora???

Sophie is pretty late on the talking front and is just now putting two words together and an occasional three. She is still in weekly speech therapy through the First Steps program and I am seeing slow but forward progress.

Today, after work, our summer nanny (who is awesome... we love her) was cracking up trying to tell me this story of Bug today. Sophie is very much into naming things, but has never been able to say her own name and does not respond when we ask her who the baby is in the picture when it is her. So, today, she was shown a picture of herself and was asked who is it? She responded Dora Dora!! So now, she is going around the house pointing to her pictures and saying "Dora Dora" to them!

So, what do you think? See a resemblance??

Awww! Totally a resemblance. *grins* And she picked a very cute kid to compliment by calling herself Dora Dora. ;)

that's too funny!!!

I'm thinking of trying the early intervention. But, I'm not sure where to find the information on it. Isn't it free vs. going to another therapist and having to do insurance and stuff?

Very cute!! Sophie Bug looks like she is getting tall . . . how tall is she? She's such a doll!

Mixed Up... He he... Sophie is NOT tall at all... just about 31 1/2 inches which is below the 3rd percentile!! My little dainty princess!

Alleen... yes, her therapy is through the state and here, your pediatrician can refer you for their services and they will call you to schedule an assessment. Speech is the only thing she is still doing. She did physical therapy for a year after coming home and hardly holding her head up at 5 months old, and then we had a DI (Developmental Interventionist) who was awesome, see her for about a year who assessed her overall development. You pay it on a sliding scale according to your income, but it can be free. The best part is that the therapists come to YOU in the comfort of your own home or daycare. LOVE THAT!!

How cute that Sophie thinks her name is Dora! Great story to tell her when she is older . . . but I think she is much cuter than Dora. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures - I enjoy them so much. You are truly blessed with 3 beautiful children.

I'll call you soon! :)

Hi, Sarah --

I was clicking around on links, and found your blog (again, I have been here before I think!). . . I'm guessing we live in the same state since my little guy (who thinks he is Diego) is in First Steps, too!

Your little Bug is adorable :)

Blessings,
Krystal
