With Hope

Remembering Maria Sue Chapman...

Her daddy, Steven Curtis Chapman, wrote this song in 1999... I cannot imagine the depth of their pain, yet I know their faith in God gives them HOPE that they will be united with their beautiful baby girl again someday.

Please Pray...

As many of you know, Steven Curtis Chapman's youngest daughter, Maria (adopted from China) was killed today in the family driveway. She was accidentally run over by her older brother. I just cannot imagine...

Look how joy filled their sweet angel was... my heart is just breaking!

Please pray for the Chapman family...

OUCH UPDATE - 48 hours later

Looking a bit better from yesterday... she is finally able to open her eye almost half way... this is what Little Bug looks like 48 hours after...

Still able to cheese it up for the camera!

She was very clingy and crabby (rightfully so) yesterday and only wanted Mommy to "hold you"... I came home from work early just to cuddle on her. Her Godparents came by last night and brought her ice cream with sprinkles and she was loving the extra attention and really perked up.

Today, she is much better but still says her cheek hurts and asking for Motrin pretty much on schedule, so it still has to hurt. It sure looks painful!

After so many thoughtful comments, I am planning on using the Mederma and Vitamin E oil to reduce the scarring... of course, I will keep you updated!

Crazy Eights

OK... this is the year of 8's and I just know that something exciting (beyond the opening ceremony of the Olympics) will happen on 08-08-08. My favorite number happens to be 8... I was born on the 8th, my first Derby horse that I bet on and won was #8, and so many other things in my life have to do with the number 8 that I just love how it works out.

Soooo... I noticed that my blog stat counter is nearing 88,888 and I have decided to have a giveaway with the person who is the 88,888th visitor to my blog. So, if you are that visitor, please let me know via the comments (not sure how to document it, but I will check my stat counter to verify - please print out the blog page or take a picture of the screen in the meantime, just in case, showing the hit counter) and the "surprise giveaway" will be announced and it is yours! I believe it should hit that number this week, so stay tuned! Good luck!!

Thanks everybody for your prayers and well wishes for my little Bug. I will take a picture today to document the progression... yesterday was too horrible to look at with her little eye swollen shut. She is getting her spunk back and hopefully will heal up nicely in the coming weeks.

OUCH!!

This has not been an easy spring for my little bug... today, I got a frantic phone call from home that there had been an accident and Sophie was hurt. One of those bone chilling phone calls where you just wait for the other shoe to drop. Grant, Sophie and the babysitter were in the driveway riding bikes and Grant accidentally pushed his bike out too far where it got away from him and fell over onto Sophie on her little Dora four wheeler... the metal tube at the end of the handle bars (which is exposed because certain nameless children do not use their kick stands and the rubber handles have been rubbed off on the edges) hit her in the face. The picture speaks for itself (avert your eyes if you are easily upset)...

My little Princess Rocky with quite the shiner...

She was hysterical but calmed down when I sang our special song and rubbed her little hands while she was being numbed up. The plastic surgeon stitched her up with both internal and external stitches and most likely a decent scar on her sweet little face... makes me so sad. Mommy got a little light headed from standing up by her bed and holding her arms down... I had to sit and sip some Sprite so that I did not pass out. She was so brave and even thanked the doctor afterwards. She asked for M&M's for dinner and enjoyed every single one of them (of course, she ate some of her regular dinner too)!

She fell asleep in my arms watching her favorite Dora video. I loved cuddling with her and thanking God for the miracle of just missing her eye. Poor Grant is just beside himself... he feels so bad for this to have happened to his baby sister!

Please pray for my beautiful baby girl... that her face heals quickly and without scarring. I miss that sweet, flawless face already...
