Pearly Whites, Puppy Love and "They're Off"

The most amazing thing happened this week... my little Bug, who is not a big fan of having me brush her teeth (even though she loves to try to brush her teeth herself) had her first dentist appointment. I was expecting hysterics and zero cooperation, but was hoping for the best, as I took all three kids at the same time and thought she might watch them and see what it was all about. Low and behold, she stood up on the stool and allowed the hygienist to paint her teeth blue, brush her teeth and ALL!! Then, marched right over to the dental chair, protested a tiny bit when the dentist came in with his scary looking magnifying glasses, then laid down to watch Monsters Inc in the ceiling (way cool... they did not have that when I was a kid), opened her mouth and allowed them to count, clean, polish and paint fluoride on her teeth. I was absolutel floored at how well she cooperated!! I almost wanted to cry she looked so cute laying there with her mouth open!!

What a big girl!

Check out my pearly whites!!

Sophie is warming up to the puppy... she was a bit jealous of his cuteness and attention for the first few days. We are learning to be gentle with him just like she is with the other doggies.

Mommy, is this how you hold him gently??

Giggle, giggle, Tucker is tickly!!

Check out those gorgeous lashes!! No mascara needed for her someday!!

Today, we went to Churchill Downs to celebrate a friend of mine, G's baby girl "E" coming home!! I cannot believe that I have never taken Morgan and Grant to the track before... quite a way to go for the first time as we were in the Jockey Suites on the top floor of the clubhouse... beautiful!! We did not win any money, but had a fun time trying!!

The day was absolutely beautiful!

This has to be the winning ticket, Mommy!!

And they're off!!

This was the turf race named in honor of Baby E's Homecoming!! Lucky number 7 won!!

Rats Mommy... this ticket on the ground must mean we didn't bet on Number 7!!

Here we are in front of the Twin Spires! It was such a fun day!

New Member of the Family

I know... two posts in one day... how scary is that??

Yesterday, we went to an adoption picnic for our home study agency. While we were there, an adorable and ever so polite little ten year old Guatemalan boy and his single mom joined us at our picnic blanket. This little boy was carrying a little 4 month old Imperial Shih Tzu puppy that looks so much like our little Cavalier, Cricket, who passed away this past February. In talking to the mom, they were looking for a family to adopt this little guy. I must have had SUCKER written right across my forehead, because two hours later, we were driving home with this adorable and tiny little fur ball that we are calling Tucker. Isn't he the absolute cutest??

I don't know if you can tell how tiny he is... but I would guess under 2 pounds at 4 months old. He is supposed to get to about 6 pounds when he is full grown.

My kids are on top of the world and are deliriously in love with this little guy. I am thinking that I am certifiably nuts... 3 kids, 3 dogs, an aquarium full of fish and 4 fire-belly toads. Welcome to our Zoo!!

THANK YOU SBP!!!

Two weeks ago, Sophie~Bug received a wonderful gift in the mail from our Secret Blogger Pal, Shannon H (Emily's Mommy)!! We were out of town and it took me too long to say THANK YOU for the ever so cute bathing suit!! We just joined a pool this summer and Sophie will love wearing her new suit to go swimming!! You are awesome, Shannon!!

Here is my little swimsuit model...

You mean this was a present for ME???

Thank you Miss Shannon!! I love my new suit!!!

Power Wheels, Tigers and Popsicles... Oh my!

How absolutely adorable is this kid?? It was a beautiful night outside, so Sophie wanted to drive her Dora-mobile outside!

Let's go, vamanos, everybody let's go!!

Sophie~Bug's first ever dreamsicle.

Pinch me mom... this IS a dream!!

Yum-dilly-icious!!

What a face!!!

Changed into our frog jammies and Sophie finally decided it would be cool to wear her tiger ears that Auntie Suzanne gave her for her birthday and read a book!

How scary is this tiger?? Grrr....

Today is the two year anniversary of accepting Sophie's referral... I cannot imagine having my precious little Sophie~Bug in our lives.

Sophie's 2 year pictures

I cannot believe that my baby bug is getting ready to turn 2!!! I took her into Portrait Innovations and while I did not like the photographer, who kept yelling at Sophie to put her dress down, we did manage some cute shots. Sophie just ignored the photographer's protests and did her own thing.

Can you guess which one is dedicated to Gia and Max's mommy, Holly!?!?!

I can't believe how beautiful this child is!!

More later... the princess is calling!!

Not getting in the groove

Not really getting into the blogger groove, am I? I am updating Sophie's adoption webpage on a semi-regular basis and it is terrible to load pictures there. My intention every weekend is to add a journal entry here, but then Monday comes around again and before you know it, another month has passed us by.

Check out Sophie's original webpage at for pictures.

We have had alot going on the past couple of weeks involving Grant. I need to tell his story soon.

I guess if I could stay off of all the blogs I read for a while and post some here, I would start to get used to it.

Rewind and Fast Forward ~ Morgan

OK... I admit, starting at the "beginning" is too ominous a task for me to complete... I will tell Sophie's adoption story as I can... in the meantime... it is too hard to not share how wonderful my children are right here and now.

My children are growing up so incredibly fast!! I am in disbelief that my first born baby, Morgan, will be turning 15 in just a couple of months!! YIKES!! It truly was only yesterday that she was born!! Tonight, on my last birthday in my 30's (GULP), my precious baby girl is on Freshman Retreat with her high school homeroom. I wrote her a retreat letter about how and when she became "real" to me, to go along with the theme of her retreat "The Velveteen Rabbit". It was very difficult for me to sit down and start that letter to her, but once I started, it all came out and I ran out of the allowed "legal size" paper they provided before I really finished telling her how much she means to me. I can remember all those precious little moments of her life from the moment she first took a breath in this world. She was the most amazing little miracle and I was in awe that God gave me such a tiny, perfect little daughter... I had dreamed of her my entire life.

Here is my baby, Catherine Morgan, at one day old... isn't she beautiful?

I smile when I look at her newborn picture... it looks like she is doing the hula dance and actually smiling!! That was a good prediction for her personality as she grew...

She would not be alive today if it weren't for pasta... this child has eaten pasta almost every day of her life!! The variety when she was little was the shape of the pasta!! Look at this picture of her when she was two enjoying her "pasketti".

Luckily, she ate every kind of fruit grown and would eat those "tiny green balls" (aka peas).

Now, my girl is a young woman and stands taller than me (thank goodness) and I am as much in love with my "baby" as I was the day she was born.

I love this child and would give my life for her!!!

This song says it all...

Love and FROG,

Sarah
